Not many film makers in India choose to stride the rough road. Be it RANG DE BASANTI or BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG, time and again Mehra has pushed the envelope by choosing unorthodox subjects from Indian soil. And now, the latest addition to this list is a film on 1962 martyr Jaswant Singh Rawat. By backing such a subject, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has once again proved he will not follow the quick money seeking Bollywood brigade.

For the uninformed, at the age of just 22, Martyr Jaswant Singh lost his life in the 1962 Indo-China war. For his brave efforts, he was awarded Maha Vir Chakra posthumously.

His tale of valor and sacrifice continues to serve as an inspiration to all army personnel posted in this sector. At the spot where he fought, a small temple is also established.

His life spans from green Uttrakhand hills to arid snowcapped NEFA (Arunachal Pradesh) Indo-China border and is not an easy subject to back.

Kudos to Mehra for producing such a brave project. Just like BHAAG MIKHA BHAAG, it seems like a desi story which is really worth telling. Indian cinema needs more Mehras who look into history of their country for stories to enlighten the filmgoers.
