Gone are the days when actresses were just eye-candy in the film. Today, more and more filmmakers are coming forward and giving due importance to female-centric movies. And year 2014 was the best example what with films like QUEEN, MARY KOM, HIGHWAY, MARDAANI and others ruling box-office.
As Women's Day is round the corner, we got in touch with Huma Qureshi and asked her the same. She said, “Today what has happened is there are better parts written for women, which is a very good thing. Earlier women could just be arm-candy for men in the film. They were just adding to the landscape of the film and not really contributing to the story. Now they are performing better also. Even in a film like BADLAPUR, the female characters were well-defined.”

“It's not that women-oriented films will replace male-dominated sagas. That's a very childish way of looking at it, but yes once in a while films like QUEEN will come and blow our minds away. Because now there are meatier roles for women,” she added.
When asked if she too is looking forward to do a female-oriented subject, she expressed, “I would love to do. I think they all are very lovely films, very well-performed, directed and it would be honour to do such roles.”
Well Huma we too agree with your point!
