The Holi Friday saw multiple releases- DIRTY POLITICS, VRG Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd's BADMASHIYAAN, Ganesh Acharya's HEY BRO and last but not the least, the Arjun Mathur starrer COFFEE BLOOMS. Unfortunately the mentioned films failed to impress, barring the Mallika Sherawat starrer DIRTY POLITICS.

As per the hazy inputs (due to the Holi festivities), it was DIRTY POLITICS which led the show with a fair 20 percent start on an average, with the single screens of the hinterland dominating the show. The rest of the releases failed to cut much ice with the audience, managing 5-10 percent starts. Having said that, these are early days and the scenario can change for the better in the coming days.

Meanwhile, last Friday's Yash Raj Films' venture, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA, managed a rock steady opening week netting 10.50 crore. Due to the extremely positive word of mouth DLKH is expected to replicate its first week performance. As the film's satellite rights have been pre-sold at a good price, and it has a very reasonable 15 crore investment (all inclusive), the film is all set to be a sure shot success, more so because DLKH is still to be released at many single screens as well as in the overseas.
Concluding with the Sriram Raghavan directed Nawazuddin, Varun, Huma and Yami starrer, BADLAPUR, the film held on quite well (given the moderate 25 crore total cost and ‘A' certificate) in the second week by adding another 10 crore, thus netting an impressive 47 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India. With the $2m (approx) from the overseas already in, and the expected non theatrical rights, BADLAPUR is sure to end up as a semi-hit, if not more.
