Superstar Aamir Khan had recently visited China to promote his film PK before its release there. He spoke to the people & filmmakers there and what interested them the most was his weight gain!
When asked Aamir about the people's reaction to PK, he said, “I didn't have any detailed discussions with them, they were too excited and we didn't have any deep discussion, they just wanted a photo with me. They all were asking me ‘why have you become fat?' They thought, he is happy nowadays that's why he has become fat, his films are doing well. So I had to tell everybody that I have become fat because I am going to shoot a film for which this was required.”
Further when asked Aamir if he liked and Chinese films which he would like to remake in Bollywood, he said, “Ya, that's a great idea. That's a discussion I had with a number of filmmakers over there. Like they all wanted to know why I have become so fat and I use to tell they why, then they wanted to know the story of DANGAL. So when I told them the story, all of them said this is very relevant in China also because they have the same girl problem. There is female feticide there and they too prefer boys over girls. This is a film about empowerment of the girl. So they said this is a film which is very relevant in China.''
“So from that I began discussing with them and said that maybe you know, the first thing that we can do in the treaty before we actually get down to making films is exchange scripts, because I am sure there are wonderful scripts in Chinese films which we can buy the rights of and make in India and that's ready for you to make. Similarly, they can buy the rights of Indian films and make in China, that's the first thing we can do. In fact, in a sense, the first film that is a co-production is PK because the audience over there is going to see my face but they are going to hear a voice of a Chinese chap. So half of the performance is mine & half is his,” he elaborated.
Aamir's upcoming film DANGAL is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by UTV Motion Pictures and is slated to release on the Christmas weekend of 2016.The film also stars Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who will portray the role of Aamir's daughters.
