After the much hullaballoo, I & B ministry as per the latest reports has appointed actor Satish Shah, film critic Bhawana Somaaya, producer B P Singh as members on the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Reportedly, the trio will replace veteran director Jahnu Barua, actor Pallavi Joshi and cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who earlier had resigned with striking FTII students in July this year.
While Satish Shah is a popular actor in TV and films (his work include films like JAANE BHI DO YAARON, ALBERT PINTO KO GUSSA KYON AATA HAI, MAALAMAAL, HERO NO.1, SAATHIYA, MUJHSE DOSTI KAROGE, PHIR HI DIL HAI HINDUSTANI, OM SHANTI OM, Sarabhai VS Sarabhai, etc), Bhawana Somaaya had started her career as film journalist and written various biographies on Bollywood icons. Whereas TV producer B P Singh is director-producer of the longest running serial CID.
It is being held that B P Singh has been nominated in the category of 'alumni of FTII', while Satish Shah and Bhawana Somaaya have been nominated in the category of eminent persons.
