Since his school days, Amitabh Bachchan was passionate for acting but he never dared to speak to his father. However one day, at the insistence of his elder brother, he gathered strength and opened his heart to his father. To his surprise his father, the legendary Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, instead of being angry, encouraged him and suggested to meet his friend K.A. Abbas, the famous filmmaker, writer and journalist in Mumbai.
To give boost to his aspiration, he even asked Amitabh's elder brother Ajitabh Bachchan to accompany him to Mumbai.
When the duo met K.A. Abbas at his residence giving reference about their father, Abbas entertained them. However when Amitabh Bachchan explained the reason of his visit and expressed his desire to act in Bollywood, he was jolted. He felt that the duo had run away to Mumbai in their passion for cinema.
Hence, to confirm the truth, he cunningly got them involved into watching the movie stills of his films and without their knowledge, he slowly skipped into another room and called up Harivansh Rai Bachchan and reported the matter.
But to his pleasant surprise Harivansh Rai Bachchan confirmed that he had himself sent them to Mumbai. Harivansh also requested Abbas that if he found his younger son Amitabh Bachchan talented, he may assist him in making a career in films.
It was only after Harivansh Rai Bachchan's approval that K.A. Abbas gave Amitabh Bachchan break in his movie SAAT HINDUSTANI.
