Calling it as a spectacle, Imtiaz after an encouraging ode to the girl power with a chorus in HIGHWAY is back to his favorite zone and claims TAMASHA to be the movie he always wanted to make.
Imtiaz says, "TAMASHA is about what a touch of woman can do to a man and his life. How a woman transforms a man, how she inspires him, makes him better, a person he always wanted to be”.
TAMASHA meaning an act or a play is inspired from William Shakespeare's ‘All The World's a stage' from As You Like It where Imtiaz has explored a new dimension of love where things are ruled by spontaneous instincts and feel.
The movie portrays Ranbir Kapoor's life in three stages–as a nine-year-old child, a 19-year-old adolescent and a 30-year-old repatriate adult. Deepika Padukone plays an emotionally agile girl with a gentle gait who meets Ranbir during a journey in Corsica, France. They become freinds, explore the island, join a troupe to stage dramatic plays and fall passionately in love.

Imtiaz reveals that TAMASHA is his idea of love and on the rebellious nature of his lead characters calling the age old love sagas of Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjhaas untrue, Imtiaz says, “ That is in the flow of the film and I personally believe in Heer Ranjha, and Laila Majnu ”.
Elaborating on what is true or false in love or what leads to separation, Imtiaz who got separated from his wife Preety a few years back says, “separation makes you understand the value of loss, when we pretend to be what we are not in real and live a life wearing a mask and not being true to what we are, we face separation”.
Imtiaz says Ranbir was the first and the last choice for the character of Ved and the casting of Deepika Padukone with Ranbir is not influenced by their YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI super success. The director who has worked wonders previously with ex flames Shahid and Kareena in JAB WE MET giving the pair their only on screen success is beaming with hope and believes TAMASHA will be a spectacle the audience is looking for.
Currently occupied with TAMASHA promotions, Imtiaz has no plans for future and denies reports of working in a project with SRK, he says, “ I have not decided what will I do after TAMASHA, there is absolutely no truth on stories of SRK doing a film with me”. Adding further Imtiaz says, “TAMASHA is a story woven with heart having the tapestry of man - woman emotions told as a play, a spectacle carrying love and hope, hoping the audience relate to my spectacle and give their love".
