Love is a very important ingredient in all Imtiaz Ali films. Be it SOCHA NA THA, JAB WE MET, LOVE AAJ KAL, ROCKSTAR or HIGWAY, all his films have shown love in a very different light. Even his upcoming film TAMASHA starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padhukone seems like a different love story. However, according to the director, he has no clue about love.

“I don't know what love is. I never use the word love to describe to any actor. Whatever understanding I had of love, is now gone. There are so many things that can be categorized as love. I do understand other simpler things like affection, longing and missing. I even understand lust. But what is love? It's very difficult to understand it,” said Imtiaz.

Point out that all his films have dealt with love in some way or the other and he says, “I don't think any of my films are love stories initially. But then when they release, people think they are actually love stories. I obviously don't want to disagree with them. Maybe they are right.'

Well, if we go by what the director has to say, it's really amazing how he portrays love in spite of not knowing or understanding it.
