Director Madhur Bhandarkar seems to going through a bad patch since quite some time now. His last few films like DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI, JAIL, HEROINE and CALENDAR GIRLS haven't done well.

However, actor Mugdha Godse has stood up in his defense. It can be recalled that Mugdha's debut film, FASHION was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and then she went on to star in his film JAIL.

Says the actress, “I haven't seen CALENDAR GIRLS but I've heard that it's a good film. People always want to say something. If a movie does well, they'll say ‘Oh Wow, his formula is still working'. If it doesn't, they'll say ‘Oh, his formula is old and not working'.”

She further adds, “I think Madhur is a talented director and has given some good hits. CALENDAR GIRLS had new girls and was a risk. After working with actors like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor, to do a film with newcomers is a risk. You need to have the guts to do that. And he has the guts and believes in himself. It's a different story if his films don't work. Each film has its own fate. Even big starrer films don't work sometimes. That doesn't mean you should stop making films. Madhur is an experimental director and hats off to his risk-taking ability. A good director never dies. So it's just a matter of time for him.”

Well, that's what you call being loyal.
