Sanah Kapur: People expect a lot because of the family name that I carry

Where newcomers prefer having a conventional debut and a dream launch pad (much like we saw Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi in HERO remake recently), Sanah Kapur (daughter of Pankaj Kapur and step sister of Shahid Kapoor) is happy stepping her foot in Bollywood as a supporting actor with the film SHAANDAAR.
When asked if she wasn't hesitant making her debut with a second lead role, she said, “Honestly, I wasn't looking for it. When I read the script, I really liked the character of ‘Isha' (which I am playing). It was a great opportunity to work with a great director and to work with a great star cast. Basically, it's about falling in love with the character. When I fell in love with my character, then everything else didn't really matter. I personally think our industry has moved on to such an extent that it doesn't mean if you have done a second lead you can't do a lead or you will always play the supporting characters. Those things aren't important anymore. If you are doing good work, then you are doing good work. The fun of being an actor is to be able to mould yourself into different persons. And who says there is only one way to enter the industry. Everyone has their own style. I did it in my own way.”
But doesn't Sanah love dancing & singing around trees and shaking leg with the heroes? “I would love to dance around trees and sing with heroes but I had never thought that I will enter in a particular way. It was always about going for good work and something which I believe in and that's what SHAANDAAR was,” she says.
While Sanah is mighty happy to start her career with SHANNDAAR (wherein she shares screen space wit father Pankaj and brother Shahid), she also feels pressurized to be accepted by the audience. “Yes I feel a lot of pressure. And people also expect a lot because of the family name that I carry. They need to see more from me and I need to work harder to give them what they want. So, I am very worried and pressurized. I have butterflies in my stomach but I am also excited because it's my first step. And I also hope audiences like it and believe in me,” Sanah says on a concluding note.
