QUEEN fame Vikas Bahl next SHAANDAAR starring Shahid Kapoor, Ali Bhatt in lead carries lots of hope and expectations. Coming from the breed of new age sensible helmers like Vikas Bahl who proved his full mettle with QUEEN – the game changer in the life of Kangana Ranaut and half with CHILLAR PARTY (jointly directed with Nitesh Tiwari).

This time Vikas Bahl goes full throttle with an out and out commercial rom com which appears to be a cross between a Disney family set up seen through the desi Phantom production eyes with the feel of a  Karan Johar feel good family romancers.

SHAANDAAR has a lot riding on its glossy shoulders. Will it repeat the QUEEN success for Vikas Bahl, Phantom and will it be the ticket to Shahid Kapoor's much awaited 100 crore club membership ( the talented actor, fabulous dancer and an undeniable charmer surprisingly in his 12 year old career still doesn,t has a single 100 crore hit in his name), will it be another glory in Alia Bhatt's success story after 2 STATES, HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA will succeed in satisfying the growing expectations of the market and the audience.. let's analyze.

The tried and tested but many times trusted premise of love, wedding family is a clear indication of an entertainer targeted at the families in India and abroad.

The biggest driving factor for a rom com to generate interest amongst its target audience is its pairing – works when its popular, different or fresh. Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt both popular amongst the young brigade are romantically paired with each other for the first time.

After the intense HAIDER and action packed R…RAJKUMAR, Shahid will be seen embracing  romancetisims again while Alia will be seen her most loved cute and loving avatar hat has made her a range.

Shahid Kapoor will be seen with his father Pankaj Kapoor. Sister Sanah Kapoor also maker her debut in the film.
Music is an important ingredient that adds to the success of a rom com. Amit Trivedi and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya have already given two potential chartbusters ‘Gulabo' and ‘Shaam Shaandaar'.

Seems to look like a win win situation for all but there are some vital issues that can go against the SHAANDAAR expected dream run.

From the promos seen so far the writers of Queen - Chaitally Parmar including the helmer Vikas Bahl not much novelty or difference from the cliché b-town rom com is noticed and that can turn out to be a case of over confidence.

But we never know, the audience might get a surprise.
All said and done in the fate of this touted SHAANDAAR love story hope fully at the box office too is safe. Said to be made at a budget of around 30 crores, the movie is eyeing the festive Dusshera release on 22nd October (Thursday) giving it an extended weekend making the mathematics work in its favour.

Whether SHAANDAAR earns and grows from its content from Monday or goes down after the extended holiday weekend, star pull and hype – needs to be seen.
