There are some films which are made keeping an actor and in mind and some which are written first and then the casting happens. According to its makers, KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON falls in the second category and comedian Kapil Sharma was the best bet for it.
Says Abbas from the famous Abbas-Mustan duo, “We heard the script around two years ago. We had really liked it and bought its rights. We thought we'll make it when we get the right actor.”
He goes on to add, “Then Kapil's shows started coming on TV. He had around 15 writers in his show and co-incidentally one of them wrote KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON. We looked at Kapil and felt that he had comic timing and also what it takes to entertain people. So we thought of approaching him and asked the writer to talk to him. He liked the idea and the fact that he would be cast as the hero for the first time. He also liked his character. He met us and came on board.”

The jodi of Abbas-Mustan is mainly known for making thrillers. When asked if venturing into comedy would be a challenge, Abbas said, “Comedy has always been a part of our films. Johnny Lever has been a part of most of our films. BAADSHAH was mainly a comedy film. It's not that we don't like the comedy genre but in the recent past, all the scripts which come to us are thrillers. We want to make films of all genres. “
Yes, making films of other genres is definitely a good idea. At least there would be limited scope of umpteen twists in them. *wink*
