The new release of the week, Salman Khan's Nikhil Advani directed Sooraj Pancholi, Athiya Shetty and Tigmanshu Dhulia starrer, HERO, opened to a decent start of around 35 percent, with Mumbai-Gujarat being the best. While the opening that HERO has embarked upon could have been termed quite good for a newcomer film, but the fact that it is a Salman Khan project (SKF) and the superstar has gone the whole hog to promote the film, and on that count the start can be termed as a tad disappointing. HERO has also taken a hit from WELCOME BACK in Delhi-UP and East Punjab. The first day, as per initial estimations is around 5.50 crore.

Having said that, a section of the youth is liking the movie, and HERO can still show a turnaround during the remaining two days of the weekend.
Meanwhile last week's Anees Bazmee directed Anil, John, Naseer, Nana, Paresh and Shruti starrer, WELCOME BACK, the sequel to the highly successful, WELCOME, saw a good first week netting 74-75 crore from India. This is the second best opening week of the year after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, and that says a lot!
The film has also performed well on its second Friday despite tough competition from HERO . The icing on the cake is the exceptionally good (unexpected!) performance in the overseas, as the film grossed nearly $4.50m (till date), which once again is next only to BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN for 2015, for the same time span.
WELCOME BACK is sure to emerge a success, if not a hit, and the final classification/outcome will be determined on the basis of its second week run.
