Where sequels are order of the day and they are essentially made to take the franchise forward, actor Gulshan Devaiah feels sequels should be made only if it is required. If the story really demands a second part, then only the filmmaker should go ahead otherwise it would ruin the whole idea.
When asked if he is averse to sequels, Gulshan said, “Not at all. I like the idea only if it is a good movie. I don't like the idea when we just want to create a franchise. The intention of the sequel should be right.”
To explain his point, Gulshan cites the example of Hollywood film MATRIX and its series. “In 1999 there came a movie called MATRIX. It was so good that people went mad after it. Then the subsequent installments came, but I liked none of them. That was one classic example, where one good product was stretched too long. If you have something best in your hand, then let it remain the way it is. If you stretch it or modify it, then chances are that it might get ruined. Well, this is my personal opinion. As a fan of the film MATRIX, I feel the filmmaker should have completed it in first part itself instead of dragging it unnecessarily,” he says

But, if the films fail, then there are other projects, which have been successful? “Ultimately filmmaking is also a business. Then, in such scenario you have to check the filmmaker's honesty, if they are making a film to make money or to tell the story or it's a form of expression. As long as they are honest and saying that they will extract something and make another part, it's fine. But if they fool around then it's a problem,” Gulshan gives his viewpoint.
Gulshan, who is gearing up for HUNTERRR sequel now, says that the part two of HUNTERRR will be made only if it makes sense. “We do have a good intention and idea to make HUNTERRR sequel. But we don't know how it will turn out. Whether it will be good or bad. Whether it will be better than first part or not. And we will get to know only when Harshvardhan, the director, is ready with the entire script,” says the actor as he signs off.
