When we learnt that the hit song ‘Dheere Dheere' from 90s blockbuster film AASHIQUI is being refurbished by none other than rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh featuring Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor in the music video and produced by T-Series, it got us excited! And why not? After all a cult song like ‘Dheere Dheere', which was a rage back then in 90s, was being recreated.
However, now that the reprised version is out, we rather feel if it was left untouched. Though Honey Singh has created it in his own swaggering style with swanky locations, wardrobe and attitude, the new version lacks charm and is nowhere close to the original. Forget being melodious, the YoY o Honey Singh created track, with almost tweaked lyrics, is absolutely dreary. Neither the music does any good nor do the lyrics entice enough to hold us.
Moreover, the kind of innocence and romance we witnessed in the Rahul Roy & Anu Agarwal starrer is completely missing here. Hrithik and Sonam's chemistry isn't magical at all, which is a prerequisite for a song like this. The duo seems to be forcibly paired together and expected to evoke some romance. While the AASHIQUI couple Rahul and Anu could bring out the essence of love with their honest performance, Hrithik & Sonam fail to infuse any charm, thus making it a futile effort.
While Bhushan Kumar wanted to pay an ode and tribute to his father Gulshan Kumar's creation (as AASHIQUI completes 25 years) with this refashioned song by Honey Singh, sadly it didn't leave up to the intended mark!
