Biopics fever has taken over Bollywood and there is no doubt about it. Milkha Singh's biopic BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG (that starred Farhan Akhtar) was a super success. In fact, it even paved way for many biopics in Bollywood like MARY KOM, biopic on MS DHONI, AZHAR, etc. We saw an array of biopics made and announced thereafter.

After Milkha Singh, now we will witness a biopic on yet another legendary athlete Mohinder Singh Gill, a 1972 Summer Olympian triple jumper and Arjuna Awardee, who was honoured by Indians on foreign shores at the Festival of Globe Silicon Valley. And the idea ascended when another incident of an Indian athlete disillusioned by the politics and bureaucratic bottlenecks was brought to light at the recently held Festival of Globe Silicon Valley.

Mohinder Singh Gill biopic is said to be made by Silicon Valley based company Smart We Creatives along with four young men - Chet Jain, writer Sandeep Nath, actor Prashantt Guptha and Jitender Grewal. An Indian-American actor has also been roped in to play the role of the sportsman.

Chet Jain, founder of Smart We Creatives and Crowdera, said: 'After meeting Mr. Gill at a common friends place, I instantly started seeing visions of him on the screen and how it could inspire the younger generation and bring changes in the current flawed bureaucratic situation in India. Our film will touch the current issues in sports bureaucracy in India while showcasing the life of Mohinder Singh Gill.'

Disillusioned by politics, Mohinder Singh Gill left it all at the peak of his career and quietly moved to setup his sports equipment business in the USA. In his spare time he takes it upon himself to train youngsters. Mohinder Singh Gill was also elected into the Cal Poly Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993, the only Asian to receive that honor.

Mohinder Singh Gill is the winner of two medals at the Commonwealth Games, gold and silver at Asian Games, and set 19 records with victories in over 52 major international invitational champions in North America and Europe, besides record-setting victories at 5 NCAA Championships. Some of Mohinder Singh Gill's records still stand 40 years later. He was caught in a web of bureaucracy, that required the intervention of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to allow him to compete in the Asian Games, where he went on to win.
