The new releases of the week - Randeep-Meenakshi starrer LAAL RANG, the Ashwini Iyer Tiwari directed NIL BATTEY SANNATA along with the Boman Irani starrer SANTA BANTA PVT. LTD. - failed to impress at the box-office.

Comparatively speaking, the Syed Ahmed Afzal directed LAAL RANG was the front runner in East Punjab and parts of NCR, NIL BATTEY SANNATEY fared best at some high end metro multiplexes and the last release SANTA BANTA PVT LTD ended up nowhere.
Meanwhile, last Friday's Maneesh Sharma directed Shah Rukh Khan starrer, FAN, could not sustain during the weekdays and ended up netting 72 crore (to be validated) during its opening week.
As we have already stated, the 105 crore (all inclusive release cost) FAN is a profitable venture for producer/distributor (worldwide) Yash Raj Films, one had hoped for a better outcome, given SRK's star power, despite the film not being in his comfort zone.
Maybe, some pruning of the second half, especially the overtly long climax, can still help the cause of the film, to some extent!
