Unbelievable but true. Kids who are ‘Fan' of Shah Rukh Khan will have to watch King Khan's most awaited upcoming FAN with parental guidance.
In a rare occasion, a Shah Rukh Khan starrer known to draw family audience and that too under YRF banner has been ordered 7 cuts by CBFC (Censor Board o Film Certification) for excessive violence both verbal and visual.
The brilliant concept of a devotee turning against his GOD because of an unfulfilled wish in this Maneesh Sharma film has made all the right noise till now before this news. The introduction of FAN Gaurav Chanana played by SRK in that terrific prosthetic make up making him look 20 years younger surely must have made his arch rival Aamir Khan go jealous, the Jabra fan anthem followed by the mind-blowing trailer made SRKians around the globe proud of their idol.
Anyhow, this news may put off some of his young fans. According to reports FAN has apparently gone for 7 cuts for violence and abusive language.
Though there is only one visual cut for violence and other six are verbal chops (mostly for curses in Hindi and English)
The visual scene which got the axe is the one in which Gaurav is in the lock-up, being beaten ruthlessly by police officials and watched by Gaurav's idol – superstar Shah Rukh Khan, played by King Khan himself who urges the cop to beat his FAN.
Finding it very long, prolonged and excessive, ‘The Censor Board' ordered it to be reduced by 50 per cent.
The incident reminds us of SRK's ANJAAM in which King Khan asks police to torture his obsession played by Madhuri Dixit. the movie showed scenes of a polie offier played by Prema Narayan brutally bash up and beat the pregnant Madhuri in the film causiung her to have a miscarage.
1981 Jeetendra starrer MERI AAWAZ SUNO had another brutal police lock up scene the explicit scene policeman removing nails from Jeetendra hands forced the movie to come under severe Censor's wrath and was initially denied a certificate.
