So Akshay Kumar's RUSTOM and Aamir Khan's DANGAL are connected !!
Media is abuzz with this year's two most anticipated films viz. Akshay Kumar's RUSTOM and Aamir Khan's DANGAL Besides being based on real life stories i.e. RUSTOM - a murder mystery revolving around extramarital affair based on famous Nanavati murder case and DANGAL glorifies a real life wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who groomed his two daughters to win Commonwealth Games medal in wrestling, a game considered to be men's forte.
However apart from this similarity there is something else that connects the two movies? Any guess?
Well the titles of both the films are derived from yesteryear lesser known films. Aamir Khan's film title DANGAL is borrowed from a 1977 Bhojpuri film starring little known actor Sujit Kumar. Though the film was made on shoe string budget yet the film broke all office records.
Till date the film is regarded as the ‘SHOLAY of Bhojpuri' films as it gave Bhojpuri film industry a major boost.
As regard Akshay Kumar's film title RUSTOM is concerned, the title is lifted from early 80's B-grade action thriller RUSTOM staring legendary wrestler turned actor Dara Singh!
Incidentally RUSTOM was a dud at the box office though Dara Singh had picked the title from his own black and white hit film RUSTOM-E-HIND (1965), which was a hit film but Dara Singh's trick on banking on the successful title did not work!!!
Moral of the story is that titles do not do wonder at the box office what matters is a good content and able treatment of subject by filmmaker.
Since both RUSTOM and DANGAL are being produced by genuine filmmakers viz Neeraj Pandey and Aamir Khan, respectively, hence we can expect great stuff.
