It did not come as a surprise, at least to us that Neeraj Pandey's Akshay Kumar and Ileana D'Cruz starrer RUSTOM dominated Ashutosh Gowariker directed Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde venture MOHENJO DARO, during the opening rounds.

The main reason is that RUSTOM's promos appealed to the actual cine haunting crowds much more than those of MOHENJO DARO. Additionally the RUSTOM audio too has struck a chord with the youths, who form the major chunk of the cine viewers today.
Coming to the number crunching, while RUSTOM opened to a 40-45 percent occupancy, MOHENJO DARO lagged behind at around 20-25 percent, during the early shows. As per rough estimates, RUSTOM has netted 14-15 crore and MOHENJO DARO managed 8-9 crore, during the opening day from India.
Having said that, one feels that MOHENJO DARO, starring superstar Hrithik Roshan, can still spring a surprise, during the remaining days of the extended Independence Day weekend!
Meanwhile, after quite a good opening week, Sajid Nadiadwala's John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nargis Fakhri starrer, DISHOOM, saw a big fall in collections, though the film is already a success. As per through initial info, DISHOOM has netted in the 67-68 crore range in two weeks from India and is an above average success for it's global distributor EROS. DISHOOM has also grossed $3.50m from the overseas.
