‘Adoption is the best form of giving life to a child who has not come out of your womb', said Anupam Kher at the launch of Munmun Ghosh's book Thicker Than Blood at a Mumbai suburban book store. He was referring to the main theme of the book.

While talking about the title of the book, he said that blood children do not necessarily do the best things for their parents. Apart from that, adoption is also taking charge of a child who does not have parents who can see him/her grow up. He thanked Munmun Ghosh for writing on this subject of man-woman relationship and how important is a child in their lives.
The well-known TV personality Shweta Kawatra read excerpts from the book at the launch event. Thicker Than Blood is Munmun Ghosh's third book. Her first work of fiction Hushed Voices (2007) explored the lives of Mumbai's marginalized classes through a series of connected monologues. In her second fictional venture, a full-fledged novel named Unhooked (2012), she spotlighted the metro phenomenon of intellectual mating between the sexes and its repercussions. Noted columnist Shobhaa De had commended the book as “an unblinking view of the contemporary concerns that confront thirty-something career women looking for love, but not necessarily sex.” And actor Vidya Balan who had launched the book in Mumbai had lauded it saying, “Every experience mentioned in this book will find a resonance with women somewhere or the other.”
