After making her name as a VJ, TV actress and in movies in Pakistan, Mawra Hocane is all geared up for her release SANAM TERI KASAM also starring Harshvardhan Rane. We interacted with the actress and asked her about her Bollywood journey, doing Pakistani films, comparisons with AASHIQUI 2, Kangana Ranaut and much, much more. Check it out...
Here are some excerpts from Mawra's interview:
What has your Bollywood journey been like?
It's been full of love and I've learnt a lot. It's been a year of lot of learning. I've been preparing myself for this since 7 years. I've found some great friends here. I've found Harshvardhan who will remain my friend till I'm 70. The producers of my film have been two pillars who've taken care of, protected and nourished me. So I never felt I'm here alone.
Along with Bollywood, would you also continue doing Pakistani films?
People used to ask me this when I used to manage between serials and studies. I think anyone can just do one thing. The challenge lies in doing two things which are equally great for you. I've done good work in my country and people would want to see me there. It's sad that I'm missing in action, but I'd love to do something there as soon as I finish SANAM TERI KASAM. I always turned down Pakistani films saying that I wanted to do my debut in Bollywood. Now that I'm done with my debut, I think I'll go back and do a film there. I'm reading a lot of scripts there and here as well. So I'm going to try my best potential to manage both since both the audiences are valuable to me.

You've been compared to Kangana Ranaut in ‘Tu Kheech Meri Photo'. How do you feel?
I was reading the same the other day and don't know why I've been compared -possibly because of the hair. I think she's a remarkable and outstanding actress. I'm blessed to be compared to her and hope can be the one man army she is. If she can give a 100-crore film just by herself, I sure hope to reach there.
On what basis did you say people can compare SANAM TERI KASAM to AASHIQUI 2?
Firstly because of the songs. AASHIQUI 2 had wonderful songs with Ankit and Arijit. Also because it was a tragic love story and a very heartfelt one. I saw AASHIQUI 2 and felt the emotions very intensely. The compassion that the two had between them was similar. I feel our film is more intense than that. I said this before doing SANAM TERI KASAM. I had only read the script at that time. After shooting, I felt layers of emotions which I didn't know were existing in my body.
Were you apprehensive about working with Harshvardhan since he's not a well known face in Bollywood?
I'm never apprehensive about anything. I only believe that whatever comes to you was meant to. After working with Harsh, I'm more than delighted to have worked with him. Obviously when something comes to you, you can either think about the brighter side of it and start working or just give yourself excuses. With me, I always jump into things offered. I love trying something which is unconventional. Before me, no Pakistani of my age had come to India, and never for such a meaty, lead character in a musical love story. So I never needed to think about who I'm starred opposite, but that the person should be of same worth as myself. With apprehensions, I don't think anybody can go forward.
