The new releases of the week, DIRECT ISHQ, ISHQ FOREVER, LOVESHHUDA, RHYTHM and NEERJA, opened to expected and predictable results. As per the initial reports, it was NEERJA which led by a long shot over the others, managing occupancies in the range of 25-30 percent. While the remaining releases were below the 10 percent mark. Given the extremely positive word-of-mouth, as also the reviews, NEERJA is expected to garner a bountiful weekend on the strength of its multiplex performance, where it is fairing very well. The rest of the releases have little or no chance, except to an extent LOVESHHUDA.

Meanwhile, last week's Bhushan Kumar venture, SANAM RE, scored well at the box-office netting 23 crore (give or take a crore), and given the reasonable involved costs (21 crore), and the recovery from non theatrical rights, it is director Divya Khosla Kumar's second success in a row.

The other release of the same week, the Tabu, Katrina and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer, FITOOR, turned out to be a dismal failure netting 18 crore (to be validated), during the opening week from India. Taking into account, the huge 60 crore cost, the film is a dismal failure, despite a fair performance in the overseas.
