Finally King Khan Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his disappointment over DILWALE performance.
The last year Christmas release didn't jingle bell the way our dear king of romance wanted. More disappointing is the ‘Golmaal' of reasons for disappointment given by SRK in the Rohit Shetty directed film that also starred Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
In a statement to press in Kolkata, SRK said, 'I don't think the film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that.”
Clearly hinting that it's the box office numbers that counts, he added, 'To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries like Germany, Austria. It is quite thrilling that Indian films are reaching far and wide. There are lot of business opportunities,'
Dear SRK we would have appreciated if you have given the right reasons for the rejection of your film in the country which made you an icon of love and happiness. A better introspection/analysis on what exactly went wrong in DILWALE as a film and your declaration on the same would have given more hope and valued your understanding of cinema. But alas your disappointment is simple and pale as any tom dick and harry claiming to be a market expert.
Agreed a movie needs to run and earn but money isn't everything. Even a sex comedy can earn good money. Dear Mr. Khan we will always be awed by the ‘SRK' we cherished in KABHI HA KABHI NA, YES BOSS, DDLJ, RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMEN, CHAK DE, RAB NE BANA DI JODI, KAL HO NA HO, SWADES. And we are still waiting for that SRK on big screen we loved.
Ironically a line from your remarkable KABHI HA KABHI NA song who toh hai albela which goes like - sada tumne eb (defect in Hindi) dekha hunar (talent in Hindi) toh na dekha… echoes with a chorus nowadays again and again. We are more disappointed than you...
