The prolific Rajkumar Santoshi comeback won't be Salman Khan's rom com produced by his brother– in-law Atul Agnihotri, but an historic epic – SARAGARHI based on the September 12, 1897 Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 Sikhs and 10,000 Afghans. The Sikhs lost their lives in the battle.

Touted to rope in a big list of B-town popular actors as the Sikhs, making it bigger than any Salman, SRK, or Aamir Khan project to that matter, SARAGARHI got the green signal on Wave Cinemas group Chairman Raju Chadhaji's birthday last Sunday.
Rahul Mittra, CEO of Wave Cinemas, informs that on hearing the delay on Santoshi's film with Salman Khan, the subject close to Raju Chadhaji's heart came into force and the magnum epic was floated with Santoshi as the director. The mahurat of SARAGARHI will take place on September 12 on this occasion other details will be announced.
The iconic battle has being in the mind of Ajay Devgn who took to micro blogging site last year to announce the sequel of SON OF SARDAR and said it will be based on the epic battle of Saragarhi and match the scale of Hollywood war film, 300. But with the announcement of GOLMAAL 4 – the sequel is delayed till further notice.
J. P. Dutta director of Bollywood's iconic war film BORDER was also preparing for an epic on the same subject, the project was touted to introduce her daughter Nidhi Dutta but nothing concrete has happened so far.
It seems Wave cinemas has won this ‘battle' which is going on floors on September 12 as said earlier.
According to our sources, Santoshi's trusted hand in historical epic like THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH which won the National and critic choice award in 2002 as the best film was the driving force behind this mega development.
