Vivek Agnihotri seems to have found his favourite genre – realistic cinema.
The director who has worked on movies like CHOCOLATE: DEEP DARK SECRETS, DHAN DHANA DHAN GOAL, got recognition through HATE STORY.
Even though he made ZID with Priyanka Chopra's cousin Mannara, now the director seems to be choosing the realistic path in directing movies.
His ambitious project BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM released after a lot of controversy and debates and now Vivek has JUNOONIYAT in his kitty, which stars Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam after SANAM RE.
The movie has a realistic touch - it takes on the age-old conflict of some families not wanting to marry their daughters to army-men.
Talking about it, Agnihotri points out that “it is actually quite common in India, that a lot of families do not want to marry their daughters to army-men fearing security issues, especially those who are posted in combat zones.”
The director says, “We have explored various conflicts in love stories, yet never ever have we touched this unique conflict which is so strongly present amongst our families, society, but never ever discussed before. I believe it's only when you bring out such hidden realities out in films that they become topics of discussion and help society give up old-age taboos and irrational norms.”
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, JUNOONIYAT starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam has been produced by Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited and is set to release on 24th June 2016.
