Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan turns 51 today. Bollywood's new idiom of perfectionist has maintained a dignified space for himself in spite being in the world of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, King of romance Shah Rukh Khan and box office powerhouse Salman Khan.

On Jan 01 1973, a cute 8 year old baby stepped in the world of lights, camera and action as a child artiste in YAADON KI BAARAAT, the year that saw the super iconic Mr. Bachchan's rage as an angry young man getting introduced in ZANJEER and B-town first teenage love story BOBBY making its debut along with Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. No one would have imagined this shortest in height of Bollywood's incredible Khan trinity will draw his own scale of boundaries.

Born in 1965, Aamir Khan is the eldest amongst the Khan trinity by few months and enters his 51st year today. And the boy charm that can coy any 'bholi bhali nari' (innocent girl) is still intact. Be it Kareena in 3 IDIOTS, Priety Zinta in DIL CHAHTA HAI, in this Bollywood world of romance which is still ruled by King Khan, Aamir has created his own space.

Aamir debuted with the experimental film HOLI in 1984; in 1988 he made his entry into main stream cinema with QAYAMAT SE QYAMAT TAK. And again an interesting connection with the megastar Mr. Bachchan adds an intriguing flair to the story of Aamir's Bollywood glory.

Aamir Khan made his made his main stream debut in same year when Mr. Bachchan's SHAHENSHAH was released amidst all protest and rallies against him. Big B's stardom made SHAHENSHAH a hit but Aamir's debut QAYAMAT SE QYAMAT TAK was a bigger hit than SHAHENSHAH. When Mr. Bachchan retained his stardom, a young star - Aamir Khan was born.. Salman Khan's overnight flight to stardom came later in 1989 with MAINE PYAR KIYA.

Aamir may have done less number of films and arguably enjoys less mass hysteria as enjoyed by SRK and Salman but certainly has superior conversion rate of followers turning into audience and good guarantee of quality.

A financer may put money blindly on a Salman khan starrer without bothering about the story line and King Khan's grand following can ensure handsome run for cinematic no no's like RA.ONE, DILWALE to cross 125 crores but ideally an Aamir Khan starrer promises cinematic satisfaction and in all probability orders a new benchmark (read crore club) for box office.. GHAJINI, 3 IDIOTS, PK..

Aamir's preciseness to excel increases his responsibility towards his audience, though sometimes it gets misunderstood as his righteousness but that attitude has given him the edge.

LAGAAN (Mr. Bachchan giving the voice over narration and again somehow getting connected with Aamir's first, this time Aamir turns a producer), SARFAROSH, RANGE DE BASANTI, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (director and actor - who can think of removing the bias against dyslexic children). Producing indie's like PEEPLI LIVE, DHOBI GHAT, changing norms with DELHI BELLY and now wrestling for women power with DANGAL. Aamir knows how to stand apart in the world of SRK, Salman and Mr. Bachchan. Wishing a very happy birthday to the B-town refined definition of perfection.
