Remember the rage of ‘Tera, Tera, Tera Suroor'? Yes, he's back and how! Himesh Reshammiya, who completely transformed himself in XPOSE, is now coming as the lead in TERAA SURROOR, which is set to release this Friday. Exclusively interviewing this super hit singer, we got to know a lot more about the how and whys of his transformation period and much more.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

First of all, how would you sum up your acting journey from AAP KA SUROOR to TERAA SUROOR?
Very satisfying. After 650 songs, 120 films (100 with T-series), I'm very happy, especially as an actor. Looking forward to this Friday because XPOSE was very well received in terms of commercial aspect and I got a lot of good critical feedback. I had to work very hard for a year to get myself in shape. That is because there are legal action scenes as well. Now we are very happy with the product. The budget has been very well recovered.

You had to shed your inhibitions for XPOSE. So how easy/difficult was that?
There I had to get into the character of 60s, while here I had to get into shape which was actually more difficult. I kept a check on my diet for 18 hours every day, had to eat small meals every hour, hit the gym 6 times a week - 45 minutes of cardio and workout. I also attended workshops with my director because I working with veterans like Naseer saab, Shekhar Kapur ji, Kabir Bedi ji. I'm so grateful that they accepted their part. They've been an inspiration.

Do you think going mean and lean was required?
Yes. What I've learnt is that getting into a character is the most important. You don't know if my character is good or bad in the film and why do I save the girl till the climax.

So isn't it a little late to do that?
Not at all. I'm very happy with the commercial success of all my projects in the terms that I produced so many hit serials in the beginning at the age of 16, after which I got into music with a break from Salman bhai. I've done 20 films with Salman bhai now. This is my 10th film as an actor. I'm grateful that everything positive has happened with me.

'TERAA SURROOR isn't bold; just one angle of the film'

What is the role of Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi and Shekhar Kapur?
Naseer saab is playing the character who escaped prison 14 times. He plans a way to help me get Tara out. Shekhar Kapur ji is the ambassador. Kabir Bedi ji is commissioner Afzal Khan. It's an edge-of-the-seat thriller. It wouldn't have been possible with a newcomer, because all of them are really larger-than-life characters.

Since it is your lead movie, but still have veterans, did you fear that they would soil your presence?
I don't mind getting overshadowed. They have such a great presence that learning from them is a bigger experience.

TERAA SURROR seems a lot bolder...
It isn't bold, but just one angle during which the misunderstanding starts between Tara and she goes to Dublin.
