The prominent new release of the week, Ekta Kapoor's Emraan Hashmi starrer, AZHAR, embarked on a good to decent start. While the massy centers of Gujarat, parts of UP and Central India were quite good, at around 60 percent plus, the multiplexes were decent with 30 percent occupancy, on an average.

In fact the film has witnessed the best response for an Emraan Hashmi starrer, in a long time (as predicted by us). Given the by and large positive reviews and reasonably favourable audience reaction, the film saw a noticeable pick up during the latter shows, which augers well for the fate of AZHAR.
The other major release of the week, the much in the news Vivek Agnihotri directed Anupam Kher starrer, BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM, managed critical acclaim from a few reviewers but the same could not translate into box-office returns. Having said that BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM will surely find patronage amongst the niche audience of 'A' city multiplexes.
Concluding with Sajid Nadiadwala's Tiger Shroff starrer, BAAGHI, the film saw a major fall in the second week as it added just 13 crore. But it hardly matters as BAAGHI has netted 72 crore in two weeks from India and grossed $ 2.95m during the same time span in the overseas, which will roughly translate into a hit status for the film in the end count.
