If Bollywood actors know how to work on their bodies for their roles, then they also know how to emotionally connect with the characters that they are set to play in their films.

When Ranveer Singh was gearing up for his award winning role in BAJIRAO MASTANI, in order to make his character look all promising and acceptable, Ranveer stayed away from the limelight for some time. The actor apparently locked himself up for three weeks, and practiced the way Bajirao walks, sits, talks, his eye movements, his gestures etc.

Similarly, MASAAN fame Vicky Kaushal, who is now playing a cop in psychological thriller RAMAN RAGHAV 2.0, locked himself before auditioning for the film. He did so understand the character of the film.

And now yet another actor has isolated himself to get into the skin of the character. Gulshan Devaiah, who has earned the repute of being an aced actor with a charm on screen, is now playing the role of an investigative journalist in CABARET opposite Richa Chadha.

As a requirement for his role, Gulshan was to play a person who's depressed and is a loner. To prep for the role, Gulshan who is otherwise a social drinker took to alcohol to immerse deeper into his role. Not just that he would listen to slow music like Ghazals to go deeper into the emotion of his character.

Gulshan for some time before the shot and while the shoot isolated himself from people, to stay focused in the mind frame of his character and allow himself the chase to be disconnected from the world.

Speaking on this, Gulshan said, "I play a depressed, alcoholic, investigative journalist in CABARET and so I spent an entire evening getting totally wasted by bar hopping with Kaustav , the director of CABARET. He shared with me, stories from his life that were relevant to the character (Gaurav Grewal) I was playing. He wrote the part based upon his own life, so it's kind of autobiographical. I would also listen from time to time to a playlist of ghazals by Jagjit Singh, that were very beautiful but depressing . It certainly helped me with my preparation for CABARET."

Indeed, actors can go to any length to achieve the perfection. And you thought only Aamir Khan knows how to master the art!
