One of the most discussed and debated films of 2016 has been BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM.

VIVEK AGNIHOTRI

While many regular reviewers have surprisingly just ignored it (not us at Glamsham!), there are others who have reviewed it, but have nothing to say about the merits or demerits of the film objectively, and just bashed it.

To talk about all such things and more , we caught up with one of the most versatile film makers (CHOCOLATE, DHAN DHANA DHAN GOAL, HATE STORY etc.), a true blue intellectual, Vivek Agnihotri!

Says the polite and cultured Vivek, “Well those who ignored, are not critics by me, because they should review all the releases. There are some who did not even watch it and criticised it in their review! It is very unfortunate as it is a film that which was intended to change the way cinema is being made today. “

When we queried him about his versatility (with such diverse genres) as also the spirit and inspiration behind BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM, he spoke his heart out by saying, “I am just a student, who wants to learn the craft. It is not difficult to make successful films (like HATE STORY franchise), but then that is not what I am here for. As far as BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM goes, it is sad that despite showing both sides of the coin, I was dubbed as anti this and pro that! You see I want to break the stereotypes like the Rahim Chacha and the boozing Anglo Indian etc. etc. C'mon times have changed and people have moved on with education. I have tried alternative treatment here. Basically BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM is about my personal experiences with different segments of the society, especially students. How they are brain washed and exploited, being at an impressionable age. But all said and done, I'm happy at the great response, despite the limited release (as we did not have that much finances to spare). Some (who criticised initially) have even apologised to me after actually watching the film,“ concludes Vivek.

After another great interactive session with Vivek, like before, we parted ways, with a promise to talk about his upcoming JUNOONIYAT, very soon.
