This week will see some relatively lesser known films. The list of releases (some may not make it to the cinemas!) include- MAHAYODDHA RAM (animation), 2016- THE END, PREM DEEWANI and ABHISHAP KAMASUTRA KA. Needless to add that the week old releases AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL and SHIVAAY will still remain the first choice of the audience and will be too hot for the new movies to handle.
AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL AND SHIVAAY
It turned out to be a bountiful Diwali weekend as both Ajay Devgn's SHIVAAY and Karan Johar's AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL managed a good haul between them.
As far as the Aishwarya, Ranbir and Anushka starrer AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL is concerned the film started on a good note (14 crore) and ended the opening weekend netting 36 crore from India. Expectedly, the film saw a jump on Monday and touched the 53 crore mark in four days from India. ADHM is superb in the overseas, grossing $6.20m with £600,000 from UK and $2,200,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (28-30 October).
The second Diwali release, producer-director-actor Ajay Devgn's emotional action thriller, SHIVAAY, opened on a fair note (9.50 crore) and ended the opening weekend netting 26 crore and just as we had said, the film saw a big jump on Monday , netting nearly 43 crore in four days from India. SHIVAAY is poor in the overseas grossing £40,000 from UK and $340,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (28-30 October).
While a good start if half the work done, both SHIVAAY (105 crore raw budget) and ADHM (92 crore all inclusive) still have a lot of work ahead, during the coming weeks.
Coming to the non-theatrical rights, AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL is in a much better position with almost 70 percent recovery of the total investment before the release itself. The same figures have not been made available by the makers of SHIVAAY.
