Today being the last day of the week Friday, Glamsham brings you Friday fitness interview of Vinod Channa. He is a celebrity fitness expert, with over 22 years of experience.
Vinod Channa is training John Abraham since the past 9 years, and currently working on him for his upcoming film FORCE 2. He is also the mastermind behind Anant Ambani's transformation and of Shilpa Shetty's post pregnancy weight loss.

Are you a fitness freak?
Absolutely! Fitness to me is less of a hobby and more of a passion!
It's something that I can never imagine myself without. Even after 20 years of being in this industry, my love for fitness has only grown and never lessened.
I continue to learn different techniques and have mastered 16 different types of workout. Even today when I travel to a different country and come across a new workout, I learn that art A-Z, only then am I gratified!
Is workout necessary?
Most people today regard workout in direct relation to weight loss or weight gain, which is my biggest complain. People need to consider workout as one of their basic necessities today. There was time when people used to step out to play or for a walk, but nowadays every other person is glued to his/her laptop and/or smartphone.
My recommendation to everyone out there is to at least take up basic exercises. It's a must to move your muscles and put them to use. Exercise will not just benefit one's appearance but will also improve their quality of life and enhance endurance.
Which celebs do you train?
Currently I am training Nita Ambani, John Abraham, Sohail Khan, Ayushmann Khuranna, Harshwardhan Rane, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh among many other TV celebrities.
What is John Abhram's fitness regime? Anything that is tough for him to do?
John is known for his chiselled body and his sharp physique. With John, my main focus remains weight training and functional training. This again differs time to time depending on his movie requirements. The only thing that he needs to work on is his endurance levels. He isn't able to take much of cardio exercises, and in order to improve that we now opt for core training and yoga for flexibility.
Shilpa Shetty is also a fitness freak. Tell us about her.
Shilpa Shetty came to me post pregnancy, and lost a tremendous 23 kgs. We all know Shilpa Shetty as a yoga fanatic, but when it comes to losing weight post pregnancy, there are a number of factors one needs to keep in mind and opt for the right workouts. I introduced her to functional training which started off with focusing on strengthening her core muscles and joints.
Shilpa Shetty needed constant encouragement and motivation, but once she takes it up, she thoroughly dedicates her time and efforts.
As a trainer what diet do you follow?
My diet mantra is very simple - stay natural stay fit! Over the years I have inculcated healthy eating habits that consist of protein enriched and high fibre foods. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits throughout the day that keep me energized and feeling pumped. I too indulge in cheat meals every 15 days but I make sure that I don't go overboard.
