The new releases of the week- Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's MIRZYA, Sonu Sood's TUTAK TUTAK TUTIYA and MSG THE WARRIOR – LION HEART, failed to excite the box-office.MIRZYA AND M S DHONI-THE UNTOLD STORY
Comparatively speaking, it was MIRZYA which led the show with a 15-20 percent opening, followed by TUTAK TUTAK TUTIYA which hovered around the 10 percent mark. The third release, MSG THE WARRIOR - LION HEART, failed to make a mark, though at some places of East Punjab, North and Central India, the film saw bulk advance booking by followers of Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji Insan.
As things stand, all the three above mentioned films face a bleak future at the box-office, though the Harshvardhan Kapoor and Siyami Kher starrer, MIRZYA, may see a pick up during the remaining days of the weekend, still given the reasonably big budget (35 crore), for a debutant film, it will be to little or no avail.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Pandey's Sushant Singh Rajput starrer, M.S. DHONI-THE UNTOLD STORY, saw an impressive (thanks to a huge 62 crore weekend) and the third best opening week (after Salman's SULTAN and Akshay's RUSTOM) of the year, as it netted in the 86-88 crore range. The dubbed versions added another 4-5 crore. The film has also grossed close to $1,340,000 from the US, till Thursday. M.S. DHONI-THE UNTOLD STORY is thus a hit plus, given the worldwide run.
