As mostly, the festival of lights, Diwali, has served a sumptuous buffet. AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL AND SHIVAAY
As per the first day reports, the metro and A centre multiplexes have naturally preferred AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL with a 45-55 percent start, while the single screens, especially at massy centres going for SHIVAAY with a 35-40 percent occupancy.
As was obvious, the youth(s) and family audience preferred AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL, and with good critical acclaim and positive word of mouth, the film is all set to score at the box-office.
Not to be left behind, Devgn fans as well as hard core action aficionados have frequented the single screens in a big way and have appreciated the wide canvas eye filling locales of Bulgaria. Unfortunately the critics have not been kind to SHIVAAY and the word of mouth is mixed.
It is but obvious that AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL being multiplex heavy will end up grabbing much better numbers as opposed to SHIVAAY. As per early first day estimates, while AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL has netted 14 crore, SHIVAAY has managed 9 crore.
Having said that it will be the post Diwali phase which will decide the final outcome of both the films.
As far as the overseas is concerned, the Ranbir Kapoor venture, ADHM, has scored comprehensively over Ajay Devgn's SHIVAAY. Just as an example, the first in the Gulf has seen AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL grossing approximately $550,000, which is second only to Salman Khan's SULTAN during the current year.
