Karan Johar is sad by the protest against Pak actors by members of a political party. A while ago workers from a political party where seen protesting outside Karan Johar's residence for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in his movie - AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL.
As reported earlier the release of Bollywood films starring Pakistani actors – Fawad Khan (AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL) and Mahira (RAEES) is under threat. A 48 hour deadline was issued to Pakistani actors to leave India last weekend by the political party.
The deadline has ended today and there are reports that Fawad Khan has left India. However, protest against Karan Johar still continued. Karan has reacted to the threat earlier and in an interview to NDTV said that, “Throwing Pakistani artists out of the country or not giving them roles in movies is not the solution to the terror crisis.” adding furthur, he said, “My father was a freedom fighter and so i know the value of lives and it saddenes me to see the lives lost in terror attacks, but choosing artists as targets to fire at is no solution to the larger crisis at hand.”
According to media reports the protestors were arrested by the police just a while ago. But has the debate on keeping art and culture away from politics over? Can't say.
There are reports of a campaign call to boycott AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL for having a Pakistani actor in the cast is gaining momentum on social media now.
