After the huge success of BABY you didn't go on signing spree? Any reason
After BABY I was offered women centric roles, while post CHASHME BADDOOR I was offered comedy roles only. I didn't want to typecast myself hence I waited for a good project to come my way.
How did you bag Amitabh Bachchan starrer PINK?
I have already done an unreleased film with producer Shoojit Sircar, and he was aware of my work. When I went for the narration, it was enough for me to say yes. Initially, I wasn't aware about Mr. Amitabh Bachchan being there when I got to know I was thrilled to be part of the project.
As you play a sexually assaulted survivor, how did you prepare for the role?
A lot of time was spent on reading the script and getting to know each other as the three girls had to appear as one entity on screen. The three flatmates in the film have been sharing the same space for three years. We had to create that chemistry. There was also a lot of preparation for the molestation and court scenes. I was shown videos of how such cases are handled in the court. The character lives and relives the trauma every time she steps out and answers questions in the court. The workshops helped me understand how a person like her would react to the repeated molestation, verbally and in public. At times it was exhausting but then I was used to it.
Have you come across any such sexually assaulted women?
No, never but I have heard several cases and I have seen videos that helped me enhance my character a lot.
'I would love to do a biopic on Sania Mirza'
How was it working with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan?
He is indeed a delight to work with, such a perfectionist. He rehearses a lot. Seeing him we too get into the groove. He is so full of energy. When I would rehearse with him I improvised spontaneously on my own.
The subject deals with rape as a grieve issue or is there much more to it?
To be clear it doesn't deal with any Nirbhaya rape case or any sort of rape. I just want to say that it's about molestation and how these girls tackle it. I can't divulge much.
Which is one basic women issue that you think should be addressed?
I feel educating a woman is a must she should be well learned as well as sanitation issue should be taken care off.
You will be seen in BABY's prequel can you talk about it in length?
I am excited to be part of the project and there are loads of action scenes in the movie. I am training hard for it learning mix martial arts for the same.
Are you keen on doing a biopic?
Yes, I would love to do a biopic on Sania Mirza.
