BAREILLY KI BARFI AND PARITION: 1947
BAREILLY KI BARFI AND PARITION: 1947

Meanwhile, last week's sweet little release, the Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmaan Khurrana and Kriti Sanon starrer BAREILLY KI BARFI, which saw a somber opening day (2.50 crore), witnessed escalating collections as the days progressed, ending the opening weekend netting 11.50 crore from India. The film has also seen quite steady weekdays and is likely to end the first week with a creditable 19-20 crore haul. Given the all-inclusive 20 crore cost, 75 percent of which has already been recovered through satellite, audio and overseas rights, the film has just a balance of 5 crore which it has already covered up and is sure to end up with at least an above average status.

BAREILLY KI BARFI, has also done very well in the overseas (given the cost and cast) grossing $0.8m with £50,000 from UK and $190,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (18-20 August).

The other release of the week, Gurinder Chadha's PARTITION: 1947 (dubbed) has failed at the box-office. In fact it is the Hollywood venture, ANNABELLA: THE CREATION which has surprised with its inspired run and it a sure shot hit.
