For years the industry and even the superstars were under delusion that audiences can be taken for granted and that films still work on a set of specific formulas, certain basic ingredients. None cared for the content that was being offered. But times have changed, audiences have also become more mature, practical, open-minded and now they won't take no-brainers being served to them.

While our audiences have moved on, but looks like our superstars have not. And this was evident when films like TUBELIGHT and JAB HARRY MET SEJAL, high on star power but low on content, bit the dust at BO and the audiences outrightly rejected them. For a long time Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan ruled with their antics & basked in the glory of their formulaic films. But as they say everything that is routine gets monotonous after a time. So Salman and Shah Rukh are also no exception.

While they may be contemplating to reinvent themselves, for now they can learn a lesson or two from the current Box-office King and nation's apple of eye Akshay Kumar, who has grown by leaps and bounds as a performer and his choice of films are also something to look forward to. Here are the 6 reasons why Akshay has outdone the forever Box-office Baadshahs (Salman and Shah Rukh) and the TOILET: EK PREM KATHA star has done it without following the formulaic path.

Take a look:

Not Relying on Holiday period: Where Salman and Shah Rukh heavily bank on holiday period (Eid, Diwali, Republic Day, etc) to release their films and mint money out of it, Akshay doesn't follow a set pattern to release his film. His films will arrive on holidays and non-holidays too. E.g. JOLLY LLB 2, HOLIDAY: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, SPECIAL 26, OMG- OH MY GOD and many others.
