Like every year, ‘The Academy award' had a segment called ‘Memoriam' where renowned names in the field of cinema lost during the year are paid condolences. This time in their list of tribute to the lost artiste in 2016 Indian actor (late) Om Puri's name was included. Prince, Carrie Fisher, Garry Marshall, Patty Duke etc where the other names included in the list.

Om Puri attracted international attention by his brilliant role in the British comedy EAST IS EAST and went on to act in known Hollywood projects like CITY OF JOY, WOLF, THE GHOST, CHARLIE WILSON WAR, THE DARKNESS etc.
