Amitabh Bachchan honuored for spreading awareness of Tuberculosis

India's icon for the icons – Amitabh Bachchan has added another feather to his social awareness cap. After eradicating polio, the megastar has been honoured by the US Embassy for his outstanding contribution in spreading awareness of Tuberculosis.

Mr. Bachchan was honoured for his outstanding contributions to the US-India partnership on tuberculosis by the U.S. Embassy, the award was presented to the megastar recently by US Ambassador to India Richard R. Verma.

Speaking on a live video-chat on a social media network Mr. Bachchan and Richard R. Verma discussed the US Embassy's collaboration to eradicate Tuberculosis in India and also the US-India partnership among other issues.

Mr. Bachchan reportedly said that it was really very inspiring that India and the US were natural partners with a long history of collaboration on the prevention of Tuberculosis, its treatment, research and cure. Amitabh Bachchan added that he hoped to continue to do his bit in the partnership in order to end Tuberculosis in India.

India's most recognized voice – Mr. Bachchan around 16 years back in 2000 confessed that he was suffering from Tuberculosis (TB) at a function to launch BMC's TB awareness campaign.
