Vikramjeet Virk is name to reckon with on small screen after having done TV shows like ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev', ‘Shobha Somnath Ki', ‘Suryaputra Karan' and many others. But the model-turned-actor has dabbled into Bollywood, regional cinema, reality shows, and Hollywood. While in Bollywood he did films like KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, Vikram did couple of south films also – CASANOVA, BAADSHAH, HAERT ATTACK, RUDHRAMADEVI, SHER and others. If that was not enough, he even signed his first Hollywood- (Indo-Chinese) film called BUDDIES IN INDIA, which is a sequel to the famous film LOST IN THAILAND that released in 2012, wherein Vikramjeet plays Bull King, the antagonist.

Now the actor is gearing up for his biggest film BATTLE OF SARAGRAHI, the Randeep Hooda starrer, which is being helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi and he plays an essential character.

Interestingly, most of the characters Vikramjeet has played has been historical in nature or inspired by mythology (whether fictional or factual) and Vikram also finds it pretty surprising as we interviewed the actor exclusively a couple of days back. The actor, who is filming for Rajkumar Santoshi's film, also talked about BATTLE OF SARAGRAHI in length along with his experience working with Randeep and much more. Here are the excerpts:

VIKRAMJEET VIRKVIKRAMJEET VIRK

How did you bag the role in BATTLE OF SARAGRAHI?

When BATTLE OF SARAGRARHI was announced, being a Sikh I wanted to be the part of the film. I was so keen to meet Rajkumar Santoshi. One day I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra and he was casting for this film. I got a call from there. I went for the auditions, as I walked in they said he looks like Buta Singh. As if Buta Singh is coming after three days, I got a call from them that I am selected for the same role.

What's your role like and the significance of your character?
The role which I am playing in BATTLE OF SARAGARHI is Buta Singh. Buta Singh is one from the 21 Sikhs but he is very different form them because 20 sikhs are at one side, while he is on another side. He is tall, strong and most powerful among them. He can be called ‘Bhishma Pitamah'. He is mentally and physically very strong and never fears from any one. My character is senior from everyone; sometimes he spends sleepless nights night and takes care of everyone.

Can you tell us in brief about BATTLE OF SARGRAHI?
BATTLE OF SARAGARHI is a real story. In1897, British India army's first 36th Sikh regiment who were posted at Saragarhi, they came to know that 10000 Mughals were about to attack at the post. The Kernel called them back but they stood there and said that they will do their duty. They will not show their back and fought with them bravely and killed around 800-1000s of them. It's a story of 21 brave soldiers and I am so thankful to Rajkumar Santoshi, who thought to work on this.

Is it a patriotic film?
Yes it's a patriotic film, and its story of 21 Sikh people. How 21 Sikhs fought bravely to save their mother land from Mughals and laid down their life for the country India. So I just wanna say 'jo himat na hare wo zindagi saware'.

How was it working with Randeep Hooda?
We have just finished the training part and we were together only for 15 days. He is very down to earth, a nice gentleman, and a superb actor. If Randeep is done with his work, he would still wait back on the sets. His character in the movie takes care of the entire battalion of 21 sikhs as he believes everyone should be taken good care of. It feels great working with him.

Period films/daily soaps work for you or you love being part of historical/mythological subjects?
When I saw TROY MOVIE from that time I wanted to play the role of a warrior, I was so keen for that type of role, and when I did my first TV show ‘Shobha Somnath ki' and KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, by God's grace I got such roles only. Actually my height and personality suits such characters, so it never happened that if I have met someone for these kinds of roles and they have not chosen me. The looks and the emotions deepness of the characters, I really love to do such characters. The historical characters are very close to my heart so I love to play them.

What preparation you went through for this film?
We did a lot of preparation. It was nothing less than an army training for around 12 days. We did all that Indian army does from sword fighting, digging trances, horse-riding. For Buta Singh, I have to gain bite muscles Buta Singh is strong and very active, So I have to look like that strong and speedy man. He is an all-rounder.

Where actors prefer to try their hand at Hollywood after spending enough time in Bollywood you stepped there pretty soon?
I feel myself very lucky that I got so early to work in Hollywood. I always wanted to work in Hollywood but call it a coincidence, that I got selected for the role. I feel so blessed as I got to work in Hollywood in so early in my age, god is being so kind to me, I am very happy, it feels great.

In your small span of your career you have done Bollywood films, regional films, TV and Hollywood too. Do you love being omnipresent?
It's not a small span. It's been many years earlier, I was working as a model. From 2010 I started working as an actor. I follow so many rules in my life and have never taken short cuts. I have worked with all my heart and in a positive way and when you work in good manner people support you and like you. I am really blessed that I got the chance to work with in different languages, movies and TV shows .

Which is your favourite actor and who you really admire?
I really like Aamir Khan. He is Mr. Perfectionist. I really look up to him. Recently, I watched his film DANGAL and I think for any actor who is not from Haryana, it's not easy to talk in Haryanvi and give that touch. It's really different; you can't talk in that accent properly, it doesn't matter how much you try. But he did it so easily and perfectly that his character is really like a typical Haryanvi one.

Who are you biggest fan of ?
I am biggest fan of Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.

What do you have to say about global icons Priyanka And Deepika, who are shining globally?
I am so proud of these two girls from Bollywood. Specially Priyanka, she is a Cancerian and I am also a Cancerian, as they are really hardworking. Both Deepika & Priyanka have made us really proud. Being an actor we really want to achieve great hike and success, to working in Hollywood they have done a very good work in Hollywood and Priyanka has worked in 'Quantico' that's really amazing. Deepika is also making mark in XXX, so they have achieved a very good level.
