This week’s new releases include Sanjay Chhel’s Rishi-Paresh starrer PATEL KI PUNJABI SHAADI, Farhan Akhtar’s LUCKNOW CENTRAL, super talented Kangna Ranaut’s SIMRAN etc. The front runner is likely to be SIMRAN, though it does not carry the hype of a TANU WEDS MANU or its sequel. Even Farhan Akhtar’s LUCKNOW CENTRAL is likely to find its target audience, while PATEL KI PUNJABI SHAADI may hold a limited appeal for the audience of comic genre, in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat. By and large none of the new releases are going to set the box-office on fire.
LUCKNOW CENTRAL AND SIMRAN
The battle between last week’s two main ventures, Arjun Rampal’s DADDY and the Deols’ POSTER BOYS, turned out to be heavily in favour of the latter. While POSTER BOYS netted 8 crore, DADDY could manage 5 crore, both during the opening weekend. Having said that, both the films will find it difficult to survive in the second week, given the trend.
BAADSHAHO MOVIE STILLS

Netting 57 crore during the opening week from India, BAADSHAHO has its task cut out; as the film has to touch the 80 crore figure for safety. BAADSHAHO has done much better in the overseas grossing $2.30m with £135,000 from UK and $450,000 from the US, till the second weekend (8-10 September).

Netting 24 crore during the opening week SHUBH MANGAL SAAVDHAN is sure to end up as at least a semi-hit, given the second week run. As per late reports from the overseas, SHUBH MANGAL SAAVDHAN, is also on a superb run in that circuit (read as US!), and although the first weekend numbers are not available, SMD has netted £60,000 from UK and $512,000 from the US, till the second weekend (8-10 September).
Moving on, the Nawaz-Bidita starrer, BABUMOSHAI BANDOOKBAAZ, added another crore thus netting 10 crore in two weeks from India and remains a below average fare, even after incorporating the non-theatrical rights.
BAREILLY KI BARFI MOVIE POSTERS
Meanwhile, the Ayushmann, Rajkummar , Kriti starrer BAREILLY KI BARFI, saw another steady week as it collected 1 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 7.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.75 lakhs from Surat, 4 lakhs from Baroda, 30 lakhs from Pune, 1.50 lakhs from Nasik, 55 lakhs from Delhi city, 20.50 lakhs from Noida, 8.75 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3 lakhs from Kanpur, 15 lakhs from Lucknow , 1.50 lakhs from Agra, 8 lakhs from Allahabad, 2.75 lakhs from Dehradun, 30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 15 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.75 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2.75 lakhs from Panipat, 10.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 6.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.50 lakhs from Patiala, 6.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 10.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 20 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Patna, 1 lakh from Ranchi, 2 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 2.25 lakhs from Nagpur, 3.15 lakhs from Raipur, 5.50 lakhs from Indore, 3.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 6 lakhs from Jaipur, 6.50 lakhs from Jodhpur , 1.50 lakhs from Kota, 1.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 10 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aurangabad and 25 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 4 crore, BAREILLY KI BARFI has netted 31.50 crore in three weeks from India and is more than a semi-hit, just from the theatrical run. BAREILLY KI BARFI is also good in the overseas, grossing $1.65m with £115,000 from UK and $520,000 from the US, till the fourth weekend (8-10 September).
Concluding with Akshay-Bhumi’s TOILET-EK PREM KATHA, the film added another 2.50 crore, TOILET –EK PREM KATHA has netted 131 crore in four weeks from India, and is a super hit. The film has also done very well in the overseas grossing $4.5m with £320,000 from UK and $1,650,000 from the US.
