Banaras - A Mystic Love StoryThe distinguished director Pankuj Parashar presents his latest feature film titled BANARAS - THE MYSTIC LOVE STORY. The film is steeped in generations of mystique and heritage. The film has been created for the world audience and aims to target a section that has tasted the material bliss but now wants to glance at the serious aspects of life.

The film is about relationships- relationship of humans with God and about the relationship of great men like Buddha, Kabir, Tulsi and Shankaracharya with Banaras. With this as the core subject, the film delves into the relationship of a loving young daughter, with her parents.

Shwetambari (Urmila Matondkar), the bright young daughter of Brahmin parents (Dimple Kapadia and Raj Babbar) studies Science at the local university in Banaras. Soham (Ashmit Patel), a low caste mystic and a protege of Babaji (Naseeruddin Shah) teaches music at the university. When the two fall in love hell breaks loose in Banaras. The orthodox and conservatives surface to the fore, threatening to take away everything from the young lovers. When her powerful parents try to ignore the social strictures for the happiness of their daughter, the dark forces and destiny take complete control. A shattered Shwetambari makes a choice. She decides to abandon the very city she loves the most. In despair and hopelessness she turns inwards to look for answers.

17 years later, Shwetambari, now a world teacher in philosophy and religion is confronted with a final choice- a choice whether to return to Banaras to meet her dying father or to continue to deny all attachments. Will she decide to go back to Banaras? And if she does, would the sleeping demons and the dark secrets lying underneath like a dormant volcano erupt once again and destroy her peace of mind forever?

Banaras - A Mystic Love StoryThe film stars Urmila Matondkar, Ashmit Patel, Dimple Kapadia and Raj Babar who are ably supported by Akash Khurana, Arif Zakaria and Javed Khan.

The film has been written by L C Singh and Javed Siddiqui and produced by Setu Creations. The film's music has been scored by Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics penned by the seasoned Sameer.

The role that Urmila is essaying seems to be a challenging and hard-hitting one. She ably played such difficult roles in PINJAR and MAINE GANDHI KO NAHIN MARA and got a lot of critical acclaim for the job. So her fans get another chance to see her in a demanding and an offbeat part in BANARAS - THE MYSTIC LOVE STORY. The film will soon be hitting the marquee.
