Legendary in their own way, India’s finest actors will ignite the silver screen with their performances in the upcoming film “Dev”, directed by one of India’s leading directors, Govind Nihalani. Amitabh Bachchan and Om Puri are distinct entities and for the first time they will be seen together In ‘Dev’. All three actors are thorough professionals who share a passion for cinema. They have given the film industry some of the best films that will always be cherished. Govind Niahalani has got critical acclaim and wide appreciation for his films that include Ardhsatya, Drishti, Drohkaal, Tamas, Hazar Chaurasi ki Maa. The grapevines have it that this film is a sequel to Nihalani’s earlier film “Ardh Satya”. The Big B dominates the silver screen. Undoubtedly, he is everyone’s favourite. In an excerpt from an interview he confessed, “I have had the desire to work with him (Govind Nihalani) at some point and we have been talking about it on several occasions, but it never happened. Now it has happened, so there is lot of excitement and eagerness to get on and I have a great opportunity to work on with him,"

Although Nihalani and Om Puri have been out of the news for some time, the combination of two veteran actors and one veteran director will be worth a watch. Contemporary in theme, the film also boasts other big stars like Kareena Kapoor, (the glamour doll) and Fardeen Khan, (the chocolate boy). Interestingly, this film is a cop-saga that centers on two friends Dev (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and Tejinder Khosla (played By Om Puri) who are both police commissioners. Tejinder is Dev’s close friend and he is the balancing force between the political interests of Chief Minister Bhandarker (played by Amrish Puri) and Dev's commitment to the law. Herein steps Fardeen Khan, an unemployed law graduate who believes in peace.

But in this thriller, wherein Nihalani makes an attempt at commercial cinema, (which is rare), Fardeen as Farhaan plays an emotionally disturbed lad. His downfall begins with the death of his father Ali Saheb. A disturbed Farhaan, becomes anti-social when probed by Dev, albeit unintentionally. Form here the story takes a turn. We see the protagonists caught in a web of events. Kareena Kapoor plays the role of Aaliya, a simple girl caught up in complicated circumstances. She plays Fardeen’s ladylove in the film and becomes his confidante. Fardeen as Farhan joins forces with Lati, an ambitious and corrupted politician and together they spark off a series of terrorist attacks in the city. And Dev takes it upon him to personally eliminate the anti-social elements in society and prevent further calamity. Slated for a June 2004 release, the music of the film has been composed by Aadesh Shrivastav. And after A very long time, we will see Amitabh Bachchan reversing roles from playing the role of an angry young man to that of an ‘angry old man’.
