One can easily remember Romesh Sharma for his film HUM with Amitabh Bachchan. The song 'Jumma Chumma De De' from HUM is still a rage. While the Big B is doing a film with his old friend after a long hiatus, Romesh is introducing his son Karan as Big B's son in the film. Nonetheless, Romesh's yet another friend Manmohan Shetty is backing the movie.
DJBK is based on culture chaos with a contemporary Mauritian setting. It underlines the cultural conflict that exists between societies, each trying to endorse their own culture. 'Dil Jo Bhi Kahey' is a sensitive love story about love and human relationships. It's a classic tale of youth and about that certain age when one is bound to fall in love. It's also about some fundamental relationships in our lives and situations in which those get reinvented. Set in contemporary society of Mauritius, the film revolves around the family of Shehkar Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan). His son Jai and his relationship with Sophie Besson is the romantic core of the movie. Young and refreshingly charming this is almost a fairy tale love till reality catches up with them.
Jai Sinha (Karan Sharma) falls in love with Sophie Besson (Annabelle Wallace) while both of them are studying in Stockholm. The pair finds itself clashing with their respective parents. She happens to be the daughter of a prominent white family.
While Jai's father Shekhar Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan) has a liberal view on marriage and approves the relationship with zero hesitation, his mom Sandhya (Revathy) is of the orthodox breed who isn't comfortable with the idea of having a foreign daughter-in-law. In the conflict, Jai is pressurized to marry an Indian girl (Bhoomika Chawla), who when realizes the real story backs out.
Concentric circles of history form a part of that reality. The disarming simplicity is the uniqueness of the film. Shot in some of the most picturesque locations in the world, mostly Mauritius and Stockholm, 'Dil Jo Bhi Kahey', as the title suggests, is young in attitude. The story which is an inspired adaptation of a very successful French television series C'est La Vie (also by the makers of 'Dil Jo Bhi Kahey'), builds upon human bonds, that of father and son, and also that between lovers. The relationship between Shekhar Sinha and sandhya, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Revathy, is treated very specially in the script and they share some very touching moments between them in the narrative. The film introduces Karan Sharma and a British actor Annabelle Wallis. The pair exudes freshness and charm that is integral to the script. The content of the movie completely revolves around the sentiments of companionship and love.
