Coming from a director, who needs no introduction Khakee is all set to 'thrill' the audiences. Directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, one of the best directors in the film industry, this multi starrer film is a must watch. Like his other films, khakee is another accomplishment that can be added to the bandwagon. The producer, Keshu Ramsay did an extensive research before finalizing the locations. The very title suggests that every cop is responsible to and for the police department. We get a vague idea of an honest cop catching a corrupt criminal. We see Amitabh Bachhan reaching the peak of frustration. An honest cop, but a failure in the police department, DCP Anant Srivastav a.k.a. the professor, will do anything to turn tables and set the score straight. This opportunity comes on the eve of his daughter's wedding. Important as the wedding is, even more important is a mission that is assigned to him. Iqbal Ansari (played by Ajay Devgan) tries to escape, while being shifted from Chandangarh to Mumbai. The attempt has been unsuccessful, nevertheless the first escort team of police officers has been ambushed midway. Now it is upon DCP Srivisatav to go to Chandangarh and get the feared terrorist back to Mumbai, without him escaping or ambushing any more police officers.
Accompanying him in this task are Sr. Insp. Shekhar Verma (Akshay Kumar), a disillusioned cop who sees a very thin line between good and bad and forced to this suicide mission, he has his own way of doing things. And joining them is a fresh young sub inspector Ashwin Gupte (played by Tusshar Kapoor), who is fresh out of training school. Like any new sub inspector, he thinks this mission impossible is mission possible. Young, full of energy, he is about to be disillusioned like Sr. Inspector. Shekhar Verma.
Yet, destiny has an altogether different play. These three individuals representing the police force carry the full responsibility on their shoulders. They will be exposed to a world where danger will play hide and seek with them, where fear will follow them like their shadow, and where death will walk a step ahead. Because bad intentions will not leave them and let them reach Mumbai... and the path ahead becomes an uncertain, daunting one, where all three tread ahead unknowingly.
This film also Stars Aishwarya Rai, who is Shekhar Verma's ladylove. Jayaprada plays wife to Amitabh Bacchan and Tanuja plays mother to Atul Kulkarni. In guest appearance is Susheel Jangira. The melodious and catchy numbers have been composed by music Director Ram Sampat and the Lyrics have been penned by Sameer.
