KHEL, produced by Popcorn Motion Pictures P. Ltd. with Galaxy Entertainment Corp. Ltd., marks the directorial debut of Yusuf Khan and will also see Ajay Jadeja (cricketer) trying a hand on acting. Suniel Shetty, who is also a producer of the film, feels that the entire film is logical and that 'Khel' is not a typical commercial flick. Also a fact about Khel is that Celina jaitly signed Khel as her first film but everyone feels that Janasheen was her first film. The film marks a record of releasing within 7-8 months of its launch. Khel was completed the film well before time within three months.
Khel is the story of two close friends, Dev Mallya (Suniel Shetty) and Rohan Poddar (Ajay Jadeja). Dev Mallya is a business tycoon who is known to rub shoulders with the rich and the famous businessmen of the city. He has an undying passion to the most successful businessman, not only in his city, but also in the country. On the other hand his friend Rohan Poddar is a simple, mild mannered philanthropist, who is not only overtly ambitious, is the main character, of the story. One day Rohan comes across Sanjh Batra (Celina Jaitly), an interior designer.
Sanjh gets attracted to Rohan's simplicity and soon falls in love with him. One day… Rohan gets arrested for murder. Dev and Sanjh are dejected with this incident. While Rohan is sentenced to life imprisonment, Dev and Sanjh, in sharing a common grief become close friends. Nature has a strange way of unfolding the truth... At this juncture of the story, enters Rajveer Scindia (Sunny Deol), a new ACP commissioned to the city. He comes across Rohan's case. Rajveer is of the belief that a criminal may go unpunished, but an innocent victim of circumstances should never be punished. On investigating Rohan's case further certain evidences force Rajveer to start thinking that it was no ordinary crime, a very unordinary game... Khel!
The film is to be released on a THURSDAY, instead of Friday to encash the Gandhi jayanti holiday and have a four day week - end.
