Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! What do you mean by that title of the film? It simply means that it is yet another offbeat title of a film from the stable of Pritish Nandy Communications. It appears to be a common phenomenon at PNC to have films with a different flavour. A film like Jhankar Beats did not appear before its release to make it big, but the truth is that the youth liked the film and it did fairly well at the box office in metros. This time around, it is only the producer who is known and the rest of the team is new including the director Kabir Sadanand.
Popcorn will prove to be a launch pad for Akshay Kapoor who was spotted by Pritish Nandy in New York, similarly Rashmi Nigam can look ahead to more Bollywood films if this one does well. As for Tanishaa whose first release 'Shhh' could not do anything favourable for her. Popcorn will also be the entry point for yet another foreign babe - Jelena Jakovljevic, to hit the marque with an 'Item number', something like Yana Gupta in 'DUM'. Let's see if this sizzling lass sets bollywood on fire with her debut with Popcorn.
Popcorn is about these closest of friends who find each other in the corridors of college. True friendships are made while sharing 'dabbas' (tiffins), exchanging childhood memories and falling in love for the first time. Amidst pages of history, dreams are dreamt. Of success, love and most importantly lifelong friendships.
Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! is about three friends. The eternal dreamer Rahul (Akshay Kapoor), the ever-consistent Tania (Tanishaa) and the crazy crazy Goldie (Rashmi Nigam). And then of course there is Sonia (Jelena Jakovljevic). Sonia of the luscious lips, the long curly hair, the honey coloured eyes; the stuff that every guy's dreams are made of... And Rahul is no different boy! The film starts in college and travels with these four characters as they set off thereafter to achieve goals and realize their dreams. And of course, fall in love.
Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! is a warm comedy with moments of tender romance. It's about love, laughter, loneliness and everything that makes up the wonder years of life
"Friendship, love self-discovery. Popcorn is actually a stunningly simple film and that is what makes it so special. Watch these young actors come together in this warm, intimate and truly enchanting film about how magical real relationships can be. Popcorn defies the myth that films with newcomers are always small. This is as big as it gets! All you need to do is open your heart to it - and it will take you places you have never even dreamt of!" says Pritish Nandy on the website.
