Low budget films getting a generous nod is indeed a shift in the right direction. Newer talent gets the platform they need to help them enhance their skills and grow in the profession they have chosen.
'?' is one such Endeavour which helps those who want to experiment. They have received liberal help from percept pictures. This film is about a group of seven youngsters on a trip in a remote jungle for their college assignment. All's well as they begin their project, a short film, but soon their nightmare begins. Two days later, only their camera is found and three of them have been found dead. The rest are still missing.
Shot on a hand-held camera, it takes time to get used to this sort of filming. But soon the director sucks you in into the proceedings. It's a new experience and this is what enhances the quality of the film. The horror is stark and the youngsters put in a spirited performance. Getting used to the darkness, trying to spot the action is part of the experience that adds to the thrill of the script.
For those who are into experimental cinema, this film is worth a watch. For those whom horror tops as a genre, this is not to be missed.
